Christmas with Mimi

Wednesday, December 28, 2016

Mimi was in town a weekend before Christmas and right after the New Year, and, naturally, we celebrated the holiday both times! We had so much fun at the Leiper's Fork Christmas Parade just outside of Franklin, TN, and Blair was thrilled to exchange gifts with Mimi to wrap up our month-long Christmas extravaganza.

Leiper's Fork is an adorable little town southwest of Nashville that is home to farms and music stars trying to escape the bustling city. We love quiet country roads and rolling hills, so an excuse to soak up the Tennessee countryside is always welcome! This was our second Christmas Parade, Mom and I took Blair back in 2014 when she was just an itty bitty... my how time flies!

The Parade was so cute and the weather was perfect - cool enough to feel like winter, but a bright sun kept us warm and happy for the entire event. The parade was huge for such a small town, and Blair squealed with delight at the candy-tossers aboard themed floats and cars, and she even got to wave to Santa Claus as he rolled through on a sleigh.

A vet's office in Franklin handed out small plush toys to the kids along the route.
When they saw an enthusiastic and adorable Blair clapping and waving,
they put the little toy back and handed her an enormous pink giraffe!

Hi, Santa!

After New Year's Eve, Mimi came to town on one of her last weekends of being in between her Pennsylvania house and her new home in Tennessee. We celebrated our last Christmas of the season with her - which means Blair was spoiled with a Cracker Barrel rocking chair (which she adores), a big box of Magnetiles, and a ballet dress for her doll. It's sad to have the holidays end, but we are so ready to start a fresh new year!
