Christmas

Blair was so ready for Christmas this time around. She started to understand the concepts of giving and receiving gifts, the magic of Santa Claus (or "Father Christmas," as she adorably picked up from Peppa Pig), the amusement of traditional television specials (Frosty the Snowman and Charlie Brown's Christmas topped the list this year). All she wanted from Santa was a yo-yo, and the big-guy pulled through for her!

Aside from the usual antics, Christmas was especially interesting this year - I had my gallbladder removed on the 22nd after suffering for months with what I thought was heartburn. Right after Thanksgiving I started having nightly gallbladder attacks and finally figured out what the issue was - my little buddy was full of tiny gallstones and needed to come out. The surgery went perfectly and I was up walking around that evening, so by the time Christmas Day rolled around I wasn't in much pain, but I was confined to a chair. So I got to spend less time sitting with Blair and opening presents, and more time just watching everything unfold. It was still a great, quiet, relaxing weekend in between visits from members of both families.

Blair was thrilled to set out cookies and carrots for Santa and Rudolph, and insisted we place them under the Christmas Tree where he would be sure to find them. The next morning we found carrots trailing across the floor out onto the deck and she laughed, "Rudolph made a mess!"

Christmas morning we woke up to find Blair sitting at a princess castle in the living room, already exploring her loot from Father Christmas. She was so excited and carefully opened each present. She flitted around the tree finding gifts from family members that had tags for Mike and I, and she would bring them to us saying "here's a present for you!"

"Look, mama! Father Christmas bring a Princess Castle!"

Bitty Baby!

A "dance class" outfit for dolly

Her favorite book - she can "read" it from cover-to-cover by heart

Current obsession: Beauty & the Beast!

That little tongue - so much concentration!

Gigi got her a new Coach purse!

After we cleaned up the pile of wrapping paper, she wasted no time busting into her new PlayDoh instruments to "make cookies" for us. She was such a sweetheart the entire day, shouting "Thank you, Father Christmas!" out the back door, helping to clean up, commenting on each gift she opened, and asking how mama's "bendins" (bandaids) were feeling.

Merry Christmas, sweet girl. Can't wait to share the magic with you again next year!
