Engaged: Karagh & Brendin

Monday, September 19, 2016

My baby sister is getting married! Karagh and Brendin are a laid-back, nature-loving duo of Wyomingites that are always on some kind of backwoods, hiking adventure. It's not out of the ordinary for them to disappear into the wilderness with their two dogs, Lady and Bain, for a weekend of fishing and camping in the mountains - Brendin even proposed to Karagh on a hike just outside of their hometown of Laramie.

The sloped mountainside "backyard" of our rental house in Utah, with its tall grasses and aspen trees, was the perfect backdrop for our little engagement session! These two are so easy-going and natural with each other that photographing them was a breeze. You'd never know that Brendin wore what he had just put on that morning, or that we took just 5 minutes to curl some pieces of Karagh's hair to get her ready. How I got skipped by the gorgeous, thick hair genes is beyond me, but I'm still jealous of her locks 27 years later.

I had so much fun photographing Karagh's ring. Brendin chose the perfect style - the trinity knots are elegant and creative; a sweet nod to Karagh's love of Irish dance.

Karagh and Brendin met and live in Wyoming, and the one thing they specifically wanted to feature in their photos were these iconic Wyoming state flag hats. Brendin wears his every day and my dad even wound up taking one home with him too, so they hold a special place in the family now. Two of these photos were even featured on the Wyoming Weddings Magazine Facebook page recently, which was really neat to see!

I had an absolute blast tripping around on the steep slope with these two and I am beyond excited for their wedding next year, and the years ahead for two truly wonderful people. Murphy weddings, for those of you who haven't been fortunate enough to attend, are unforgettable celebrations of love, family, and Bruce Springsteen. Watch out, Wyoming. Laramie may never be the same again!
