Arrington Vineyards & Nashville

Thursday, September 15, 2016

While Mom and Grammie were in town, we decided to give the Arrington Vineyards winery another try. Mike and I were there a few years ago, and I take back everything I said about the wines! Arrington has expanded their portfolio, site, and everything since then - I really enjoyed several of the wines that we tried!

Arrington offers a convenient "Picnic Flight" tasting option where you pay $14 and get four two-ounce pours in a cute little carrying case. We took ours over to one of the many picnic tables on the hill near the vineyard and it let Blair have free reign to roam around while we compared notes and picked out favorites. Mom, Grammie, and I each chose different wines for our flights to maximize our tasting - which came to 12 different types! My favorites were the "Sparkle!" and three reds - a cab sauv, Red Fox Red, and Antebellum.

I was a little worried about bringing a toddler to a winery, but it was great! Mike (our gracious DD) chased her around and even took her up to a little area where you can pluck grapes off the vine and eat them. She had a blast playing in the leaves, eating our leftover oyster crackers, and serenading us with songs. It was a beautiful day and the perfect way to spend an afternoon!

The rest of the weekend included a visit to both Bowie Nature Park and Centennial Park with Gigi and Mama, while Mimi and Mike went to a Tennessee Titans football game! Blair ran off lots of energy at Bowie and then we headed into town to walk around Centennial Park. The Park has an events space and art museum in the center called The Parthenon, which is full-scale replica of the building in Athens, Greece. It's a beautiful place, although the lake was a little gross when we went - hence the swirly green water in the photos!

she's been too scared to try it the past few times!

Ew.

Aaaaand then we found out we were breaking the rules. Sorry, ducks!

Grammie, Blair, and I met up with Mike and Mom in downtown Nashville for an early dinner after the game. We stuffed ourselves at Rock Bottom Brewery on Broadway, Grammie hooked Blair up with some new kicks at French's Boots, and we made some new "friends" along the way. Mom and Grammie had early flights in the morning, so we watched a bit more football in their hotel room before saying our goodbyes and heading back home. Their suite at the Double Tree had a crazy layout and came to a point, where windows showed off a 180-degree view of downtown. Blair was absolutely obsessed with standing at the edge, looking out at "the big city" with no fear.

Made herself right at home on the bed!

Showing off her new cache of boots - she's set for the next few years!

Seriously, we couldn't get her off this ledge, she loved it so much!
It was a wonderful visit and so much fun spending time with Grammie. It's always great to have house guests come to visit and explore our exciting city with us - who's next?!
