McClanahan Bistro Night

Another holiday weekend in the books and it's officially the beginning of summer! We trekked on up to Kentucky for a long weekend of relaxation, festive fun, and non-stop entertainment from the littles. We heralded the arrival of summer with a pre-Memorial Day evening get-together, and Mike really got into the patriotic spirit decking out the patio for another McClanahan Bistro Night

After a blur of excitement at The Party Source to gather some decorations, the McClanahan patio was aglow in red, white, and blue. In another life, I assume Mike was some kind of decorator, because he really hit it out of the park this time - streamers, bunting, string lights, and gussied-up trinkets from around the house really pulled the whole thing together.

The Rooster he gifted his mother for some holiday a few years ago.
This thing gets dressed up for every occasion he can imagine.
He converted Super Joey Votto into an American for the weekend.

We pulled out the trusty old baby pool and let the girls splash around practically all weekend. I really just need to pack a couple of bathing suits for Blair instead of clothes - she spent the entire weekend in her swim suit! B and Cousin C had a blast dumping water out of the pool, eating popsicles, and shrieking with delight at the bubble tornado created by the $10 piece of magic we got off Amazon. All toddlers need bubble machines.

C is a major water bug - the chilly water hardly phased her at all!

"Cheers!"
That big cheesy smile!

He was not impressed with our games.

After hopping the kids up on popsicles and bubbles, we turned them loose in the backyard to pick flowers and roll in the grass - because it's summer damnit, and getting dirty is what kids do best! The girls flew high in the air with super tall Uncle "Angless" (Blair still can't say his name right, but at least he's not "Basket" anymore). It was so much fun and I hope the summer holds many more evenings of silliness and dirt smudges for all of us!
