Memorial Day

Tuesday, May 31, 2016

The morning of Memorial Day, we had breakfast at Cracker Barrel before watching the Bellevue-Dayton Memorial Day Parade. Blair has developed quite the affinity for pancakes and was none-too-pleased that they wouldn't just magically appear on the table when she arrived at the restaurant. She passed the time by playing the classic little golf-tee game and gobbled up her pancakes and bacon when it was ready. We also showed her how to play checkers and we had to drag her (literally kicking and screaming) away from the little Cracker Barrel rocking chairs on the porch. Sorry, kiddo!

Impatiently waiting for pancakes

Loved the little chairs and wanted to take one home.

We wound up in the perfect, shady spot for the big parade and all the kids (including the big ones!) had fun waving at the fire trucks, politicians, marching bands, dance troupes, and police cars. The girls yelled "Hiii!" to every passerby, and Mike got waves from various costumed mascots. He almost caught a full roll of goetta thrown into the crowd by a man on a Segway, but lost out to a shifty pre-teen. He's still pretty bitter about it, I don't think we'll ever hear the end of that damn goetta that got away, haha!

Cousin C was very patriotic and loved waving the flags!
Cranky waiting for the parade to start

Sharing a seat with Baby M!
High fives all around!

Silly Uncle Mike

Loving on Aunt Danielle watching the parade
After all the pancakes and parade excitement,
she conked out in the truck on the way home.

After the parade we all headed to Aunt Marilyn's house for an early dinner. The girls played in the pool again, ran around on the deck squealing, and keeping us all laughing with their silliness. I just love how much fun they have together - who knows what kind of adventures the summer holds for Blair and Cousin C!

Enjoying some delicious vanilla ice cream!
