Three & One Quarter

Tuesday, April 25, 2017

Well, we're already three months into Blair's fourth year and her sparkling personality shines brighter every day. She's truly blossomed from "baby" to "kid," complete with imaginative stories, endless performances, and dramatics worthy of an Oscar. *wink*

Weight: 30lbs 2ounces
Height: 35.5 inches

Favorite Things
Singing
Whether it's Beauty & the Beast, Moana, Tangled, or the ABCs, Blair is constantly singing. Songs are performed at the drop of a hat at the playground, in the store aisle, the living room, the car, dance class, bedtime... and usually ends with her belting out "I AM MOANAAAAAA" with all her might. Bath time always comes with a concert and some kind of dramatic scene of Little People and figurines - she has become quite the little performer.

I'm sorry, did you think I wasn't going to share videos of these shenanigans?

Paw Patrol
Girlfriend is obsessed with the Nick Jr. show Paw Patrol - so much so that the Easter Bunny took notice and brought her a tiny squad of pups that she carries around with her and arranges to respond to various disasters. Blair is quick to tell you that her favorite pup is Skye (the one with the purple/pink helicopter, obvi), and she will judge you on who your favorite is. She has assigned Marshall (Fire Chief Dog) to Mike, and I'm the recycling dog Rocky. But anytime I'm wearing something with an anchor on it, I'm the Coast Guard dog Zuma.

Reading books
This child LOVES to read. We go through two or three books each night before she goes to bed. She has her favorites (King Jack & the Dragon is a huge hit around here, thanks, Imagination Library!) but she has also taken a liking to a book about the brain that Aunt Karagh the Neuroscientist gave her. She's latched on to the word "amygdala" and likes to tell us all about how the brain is in your head and it has the amygdala. So, we're basically planning to send her to Vandy in lieu of kindergarten. Ha.

Playing outside
At least once or twice a day, Blair will say "I need some air, guys" and run out onto the back deck. She particularly loves scavenging in the backyard for weeds flowers, rocks, sticks... the Heart of Te Fiti. You know, normal backyard discoveries.

In this one, she's pouting because she dropped a jelly bean off the deck and couldn't find it in the moss. Hahaha.

Least Favorite Things
Listening
Every three year old wants to be their own boss, so it should be no surprise that our Little Miss often butts heads with us. We've been working on turning on her listening ears, and she's been doing well most of the time, but holy moly when she sets her mind to something... let's just say don't try to put her in her pajamas unless you're warmed up.

Adorably Mis-pronounced Words
- "Plublix" (Publix supermarket)
- "Wally" (Maui, from Moana)
- "Bees-ah-rella" (Cinderella)

Development
- Can count to 30!
- Sings the "Mariposa" song in Spanish
- Professional Frozen Matching Game Player
- Fully potty-trained during the day, I'm not brave enough to work on night time yet.
- Sings the Tim McGraw song "I like it, I love it" when we watch the Nashville Predators play (it's their official goal scoring song, haha)

Okay, one more tub video. She's already going to be mortified by this blog in thirteen years, what's one more reason? Love you, you sweet, funny little person!
