First Ballet Class

Wednesday, June 22, 2016

Our tiny dancer was so excited for her first ballet class - we talked about ballet, tried on the shoes, watched Peppa Pig's Ballet Class a million times and she was ready...
Until we got there.

The class is meant for 2-4 year olds, but this group of twelve littles is predominantly under two and a half. All the girls were pretty nervous to be shuffled into the studio by themselves and once one of them started crying, they all kind of domino'ed from there!

Blair is a timid adventurer - if she feels comfortable, she will cautiously try something new and scary. The newness of everything was too much for her to be brave and go in alone, so she spent most of the class attached to my side. She refused to try any of the activities, with the exception of "dance around with a glitter wand," however, when the dance teacher collected all the glitter wands, she let her True Twos shine through. Bless her little heart.

At least she sat still while I put her hair up? #littlevictories
We persevered through the end and, despite having been a total pill the whole time, she talked all about "dance class" on the way home. She told me how much fun it was, which made me laugh, and assured me that she would have a better attitude next week. We've got 6 weeks to make this a positive experience - here's hoping she makes it through a class tear-free before the end of July!

"No, mama! No more dance class!"
