Father's Day

Blair and I celebrated Mike on Father's Day Weekend with some of his most favorite things - bowling, breakfast at the Loveless Cafe, and the city splash pad! Blair made Mike an adorable little craft at school and she showered him with lots of kisses and hugs all weekend long.

Saturday started out a little differently than I had planned - I wound up at the urgent care with a cold-turned-sinus infection that was just destroying me. Blair tagged along so Mike could ease into the morning, and she was an absolute angel watching Frozen and eating Goldfish. She was very concerned when I got a shot, but patted my arm afterwards and asked, "You okay, Mama?"

Tagged along with Mama to the doctor
I felt a million times better after the steroid shot and off we went to the first surprise of Mike's weekend - bowling! Mike loves bowling, although we don't get to do it often anymore, and he was so excited to try it with Blair. We went to a bowling alley that had programmable bumpers for each player, so we set up the game to raise bumpers when it was time for "BlairBear" to bowl, but retract them so Mike and I could use avoid the gutters. The alley also had a little ball ramp to help Blair position the ball and give it momentum going down the lane. She was thrilled by the whole thing and really got into the scoreboard buttons and declaring whose turn it was - "DADDY TURN! GET A BALL, DADDY!"

The end result was rather impressive for 2 people who hadn't bowled in 2 years and a toddler - Thunderballs eeked out a win over KaitiMac with 121, and BlairBair brought up the rear with an unbelievable 95. She even got a few spares! We celebrated our accomplishment with ice creams and "prink-alls" from Dairy Queen before heading home for naps. After some good solid rest, we relaxed on the back porch around the baby pool.

Even Dada got in on the nap action.

We were up and at it around 8am on Sunday to surprise Mike with breakfast at his favorite spot - The Loveless Cafe! Blair talked all morning about how excited she was to have pancakes and bacon, and Mike went with the French Toast. I opted for eggs and the hashbrown casserole, which is just melt-in-your-mouth amazing. We love everything about this Nashville landmark - the biscuits, the atmosphere, all the fun things to do while you're waiting for your table, and of course, the down-home country cooking.

She squealed when they brought her plate. She's seriously obsessed with pancakes.

He didn't eat the extra pancake, that was Blair's leftover! Haha
Good ol' country breakfast. Doesn't get any better than this!
The Loveless Cafe is just one part of the property - there's several little shops and things to keep the kids busy during wait times, since the place is busy almost all the time. Blair and Mike tapped into their silly sides with this farmer cutout, an old rusty tractor, and hula hoops!

Mama got in on the action too!

Rides her tractor prim and proper with her ankles crossed.

After breakfast we headed over to Kingston Springs to let Blair run off her pancake in the splash pad and playground. She is a little hesitant about the water jets at first, but once she warms up to them a bit she'll stand on them, run through them, and shriek with delight at the unpredictability of the spray. Her favorite part of the playground is the "sloyde" - a word she learned watching Peppa Pig and now says with a British accent. I love it and don't bother correcting her.

She made a little friend!

It was such a fun, adventurous weekend that we were extra sad to see Monday roll around. We love you, Mike - you're an incredible father and I am so proud to be your partner in this journey.
