Winter Wonderland

Friday, January 29, 2016

We woke up on Friday to a winter wonderland - while the East Coast braced for historic accumulations of more than three feet, Tennesseans lost their minds over the 8 inches that fell between Friday and Saturday. Everyone phoned in snow days and we all settled into our blankets and watched the world turn white. It was so so pretty - we didn't have any ice at all, it went straight from rain to snow, and it was the perfect packable powder!

Blair slept in until almost 10AM and left Mike and I waiting impatiently for her to get her first glimpse of the snow. True-to-form, she went nuts. "What's that?" she asked, excitedly. "Snow!" we said, and she hasn't stopped saying "sanow!" since. We opened the back door and let her soak it all in for a minute - and before we knew it she was packing a cup full to have for breakfast.

She kept asking to "go outside? sanow?" so we threw her in some rainboots and let her out in the driveway to experience her first major snow event. It snowed a little on her first birthday, honestly it was no more than an inch, and we got a dusting the night we brought her home from the hospital, so it was funny that this big snowstorm came the weekend before her second birthday. No wonder she loves it so much - it's in her blood!

Mama's little snow bunnies

"Mush, Dada!"
She laughed and laughed as Dada ran her around the neighborhood in the sled.

Watching Dada build a "Snow Trump"
Yes, those are beer caps and jelly beans.
And the Twizzler combover completes the look. Blair just wanted to eat him.
It finally stopped snowing on Saturday, so we went outside again several times because our little snow bunny just couldn't get enough of the white stuff. She helped Mike plow the driveway in her Cozy Coupe and had an absolute blast throwing snow in the air, eating it, and waving to the neighbors. We were so sad when Monday rolled around and we all had to go to work and school instead of playing in it some more. Then the warmer air moved in on Tuesday and it all melted - that quickly, like it never even happened!

Beep, beep! Deputy Public Works Director in the house!

We had the cleanest pavement in the hood, including the street!

Silly little goose.

Snow kisses!

She would not stop laughing. It was hysterical.

"Sah-nooooooh!"
"Bye-bye" to the neighbors
