"On the night you were born,
The moon smiled with such wonder
That the stars peeked in to see you -
And the night wind whispered,
“Life will never be the same.”
Because there had never been anyone like you… ever in the world."
On the Night You Were Born by

Well, it finally happened. My little baby went from being brand new to two years old in the blink of an eye. How is it possible that two years of my life have passed by so quickly?!

Weight: 26 pounds 8 ounces
Height: 33 inches!

Sleeping: With the help of a humidifier and a borderline-addiction to Vick's vapor rub, she's beating down a weeks-long cold and still sleeping 11 hours at night. *knock on all the woods*
Eating: She's a certified grazer now - little snacks, a cup of milk and a few bites of dinner is basically our meal regimen at home during the week. Thank goodness she eats at school. She also knows the word "eat" and tells us when she's hungry - it's so cute to hear her say it and do the baby sign she learned at school!

Favorite Things: Singing songs and doing hand motions - her current favorites are The Wheels On the Bus, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. She also goes absolutely crazy over this cute little Jump Up and Down tune they sing at school. We sing it for her and then she'll say "Mama, too! Dada, too!" and then we get our cardio in by jumping around the house for 30 minutes.

Least Favorite Things: She has been such an angel lately - I can't think of anything that she's really strong-willed about right now. *SERIOUSLY KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK ON EVERYTHING WOODEN*

Milestones
- She peed on the potty for the first time ever at school and has done it a couple times since. She asks us to let her poop on the potty at home, but so far she hasn't actually pooped. I finally caved and bought the tiny toilet seat attachment. Is this really happening? AHHHHH.
- Experienced the most snow she's ever seen in her life - and LOVED it. She could have played in the "sanow" for hours if we let her. I think she was solely responsible for consuming cleaning about 6 inches of it off our deck.

New Words
- It is a word-a-palooza up in here. "Stuck," "eat," "frog," "wee-ooh, wee-ooh" (fire truck), "owl," "moo" (cow), "sheep," "huppy day" (happy birthday!) the list goes on... she even says "Oh, cool!" now when she's impressed by something. It's hysterical.
- She has added five and six to her consecutive counting (now she says one, two, five, six, blast-off!) and she is trying to say the alphabet. She knows some of the letters, but can't say them in order yet, so it's a lot of random ones strung together differently every time (E, I, E, O, P, S, T, B!)

Happy birthday, sweet girl. May this next year of your life be filled with wonder and adventure!

We had a very low-key celebration on her actual birthday - I brought cupcakes and goodie bags to her class at school on her Monday birthday. Twelve toddlers eating cupcakes might just be the most hilarious thing ever - until you realize they've got icing in their hair/ears/shoes and they're all bouncing off the walls 20 minutes later. We apologized to her teachers for causing a ruckus and then headed home to make dinner and celebrate with dada.

I couldn't help but sneak into her room before I left for work that morning!

Birthday cupcakes with her friends!
It's not a party until someone brings the Pirate's Booty!
I made pink paper bows to give the bags a fun little pop. #kaitspade
An unfinished wood frame and a little poem
Kiddie paint & paintbrush to paint the picture frame and some playdoh!
They looked so cute on the buffet under my New Year's Eve/Birthday banner!
We did a special dinner of pork tenderloin, cheesy potatoes and green beans for her big girl birthday and, of course, had (another) round of cupcakes. A little glittery "huppy day" banner on the wall and a special sparkly shirt made things just a little festive, and she was driven to fits of giggles learning how to work the little party blowers I picked up.

Reading a "bookie" in her kitchen

We're going to celebrate her birthday again a few times in February - we're expecting all the grandparents in a span of about 3 weeks and then it's my *gulp* 29th birthday at the end of the month, so I think we're going to get our money's worth out of the sparkly "huppy day" banner - especially since I just LOVE hearing her say "huppy day, mama!"
